PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE - July/August 2007
Well,
we're well into our 2007-2008 fiscal year. I'm honored to once again
serve as your president. We've grown quite a bit. We have more members
from Manatee County, either living or working there, than we've ever
had, and I believe these are going to be strong, active members. We
have our "seasoned" members and their guidance and understanding
of what we hope to accomplish thorugh our association is invaluable.
Your Board is working hard to add new things for you to enjoy. I hope
you will all very seriously consider running for an office next year.
We need new ideas, new officers, new direction. Also, several of your
current Board are considering positions on next year's state association
(FALSS) board. It's not healthy for a growing association to continue
with the same officers switching offices each year. As our numbers
grow we need to make sure the needs of all members are considered.
I'm sure the "seasoned" members would be more than happy
to mentor anyone who wishes to pursue an office in the chapter, to
chair a committee, to bring ideas to the meetings to be considered.
I've been a member of the former association, continuing to this present
association, since 1977, and without members willing to participate
the association will not continue to be. This chapter has been active
since the 60's, which I can tell you is only thorugh the dedication
of its members...so, please start considering now how you'd like to
contribute in our chapter. It will make you love it as we do because
it is what you make it to be.
Toward
a better profession,
Suzanne Johnson
